National Pancake Day!
790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning Show was live at the International House of Pancakes on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood to celebrate and to help I-HOP raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The abstemious Doug McIntyre was there with co-host and KABC Morning News Anchor Leeann Tweeden, Traffic Reporter Bill Thomas and Sports Reporter – and Lead Pancake Eater – Randy Wang!
There was a big stack of guests, too, including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. Seven of his ten challengers joined the party: Paul Amori, Diane “Pinky” Harman, David Hernandez, Yuval Kremer, Eric Preven, David “Zuma Dogg” Saltsburg and Mitchell Schwartz.
Jill Stewart, campaign director of Coalition to Preserve L.A., came by to stump for the Measure S, which would impose a moratorium on all major new construction projects. President of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Gary Toebben laid out the argument why voters should reject it in favor of growth.
L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas was there to speak out in favor of Measure H – which would impose a half-cent sales tax in Los Angeles County to expand services for the homeless. The measure has no formal opposition.
Perhaps the highlight of the morning was Miss America, Savvy Shields, flipping a pancake from the griddle, right into her crown. Everyone agreed afterwards that America’s got talent!
