Sports Illustrated fan favorite Tori Praver has her roots set solidly in the tropical Hawaiian island paradise she calls home. The Maui native, who spent her childhood surfing and hanging out with friends on local beaches, has come full circle since being named the face of Billabong, the ultimate surfing apparel company.
This year millions of Tori's fans will see her grace the pages of the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swim Suit issue, an honor she also enjoyed in 2007 and 2008. What's especially exciting is that Tori's new line of swimwear will also be unveiled in this year's hotly anticipated edition.
Tori Praver's big break came when she was asked to follow in the footsteps of such iconic superstars as Claudia Schiffer and Eva Hertzigova as the face for Guess. Since then she has starred in advertising campaigns for Liu Jo, Ann Taylor, Izod, Billabong, Yamamay, Redken, and Kanebo. Tori is also a prominent feature on the world's runways. She has walked for Halston, Zac Posen, Cynthia Rowley, and Miss Sixty.
Tori has been featured in editorials for magazines such as, V, Numero, 10, Elle, GQ, PoP, Allure, Glamour, and Cover. She has also been photographed for the coveted swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated and has appeared on the covers of Glamour, Elle, Cover, and Cosmopolitan.
Tori is also proud to have worked with many of the industries most renowned photographers including, Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier, Greg Kadel, Gilles Bensimon, Ben Watts, Alasdair McLellan, Ellen Von Unwurth, and Liz Collins.
Tori recently returned from the 13th Annual Capri-Hollywood International Film Festival in Italy where she received its prestigious 'Newcomer' Award.
The blond haired 5'11 beauty seemed to be destined for a career in modeling but her original dream was to become fashion desighner. She was discovered while shopping with her mother in Maui at age 13. At first, she wasn't interested and after a two-week test run in New York City, she decided she'd rather return to the life she knew in Hawaii. At 17, she realized that with her natural gifts, modeling was something she was destined for and it was time to conquer the fashion world. With her drive, commitment to her new line of swimwear and professionalism many opportunities still lay ahead.
In addition to modeling, Tori recently designed her own swimwear line, Tori Praver Swimwear. She would like to expand her line and create an eco-friendly collection of bathing suits, the proceeds of which she would donate to charity. She also enjoys yoga, surfing, traveling, and discovering new places and cultures. She is happiest when she has her family and friends nearby. When not jetting off to exotic locales, Tori currently divides her time between homes in Venice, California and New York City, though she hopes to raise her family in Maui someday.
TORI PRAVER
CEO and Chief Designer, Tori Praver Swimwear
Top Model, Tori Praver's name has become synonymous with surf, sun and sand. The Hawaii native, grew up on the beaches of Maui with a childhood spent wearing a bikini among the beauty and splendor of a tropical island paradise. When she is not traveling the world for a photo shoot, nothing makes her happier than spending the day on the beach with her friends and family. "The ocean and the beach are second nature to me and what make me the happiest."
Tori has been a representative of many prestigious brands and fashion houses. She has graced the covers of such magazines as Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and Elle. She has also appeared in fashion spreads in nearly every major fashion magazine worldwide and is a fan favorite of the famously sexy Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
Not interested in only modeling, Tori's dreams of designing and creating her own fashion line have been realized with the launch of the Tori Praver Swimwear line. When speaking of the line, Tori says, "I know swimwear and what women are looking for in a bikini. My line was designed with the intention of making women feel comfortable and confident while being sexy!".
Tori's sophisticated taste and eye for detail has been influenced by the designers with whom she has worked and the many places she has traveled. "I have been to so many gorgeous places and have been exposed to so many amazing cultures, I can't help but be inspired when I travel". However, she brings her own identity to the line with an insistence that each woman is able to mix and match both tops and bottoms, which happen to be seamless. "The fun of that,"says Tori, "is that it allows each girl to express their own point of view through their bathing suit choices. It also recognizes the fact that many women may be smaller on the top, and bigger on the bottom ( or vice versa). Having a perfectly fit suit allows everyone to be confident, have fun, and look great all at the same time!" "In a bikini, I want to able to surf, swim, or just or even just lounge in the sun," says Praver. " And that's exactly what my suits are made for, they allow you do it all".
