Tif McMillin
Musician
Tif McMillin was born into a musical family, in a small town just east of Salt Lake City. Her mother, a gifted singer / songwriter, instilled in her a love of music and performance.
But that was just the beginning…
Tif began singing in her family's recording studio from the time she was a baby, honing her voice by imitating her mother's phrasings and becoming a remarkably mature performer at a very young age. She also dreamed of becoming a world-class Olympic skater, training 4 hours a day. However, by the time she reached the age of 11, her love of singing replaced skating as the central focus of her life.
Tif’s first solo entertainment performance came at the age of 13, as a hostess’ assistant in a local restaurant, which booked live entertainment. She picked up the microphone one evening at the urging of a classmate. One song turned into four - at the audience’s insistence. She loved it! Soon she became a singer for a local band, and began her musical journey.
In early 2004, she moved to Los Angeles – and as is often the case - LA wasn’t so welcoming to another, would be recording artist. After all, the City of Angels is a destination for so many people with dreams. She missed her family and had little money. But LA wasn’t tough enough to make her give up. She recalls, “I was literally crying myself to sleep, but from those early experiences came inspiration to just write and write.”
She auditioned to play an acoustic showcase at Hollywood’s famed Spider Club and not only got the gig, but also the enviable job of producing the night, which she dubbed “Acoustic Rush”. This led to performances at venues such as The Viper Room, The Derby, and eventually Avalon.
LA was starting to look a bit better.
Represented by producer Michael Lloyd, she’s been in the studio with some of the world’s greatest musicians (Greg and Matt Bissonette, Leland Sklar, Tim Pierce, Emmy winner Greg O’Conner, John Ferraro, Laurence Juber) working on material for her debut CD on Curb Records. Additionally, she will be featured in the soundtrack of Foodfight!, a new animated movie from producer Larry Kasanoff (Terminator 2, True Lies, Mortal Kombat). In June, Tif was selected to headline the American launch of “The Hilfiger Sessions”. Already popular in Europe, these live concert events highlight top emerging artists - sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger.
Tif McMillin - a truly gifted artist - is ready to realize her dream and bring her music to larger and larger audiences. The songs are fresh. The music rocks. Anticipation is high.
It's been a long road from that little local restaurant in Utah, but it’s been worth the trip.
