One could call Saeed Babaeen "Hollywood's accidental florist." Born and raised in Iran, he moved to Houston to study and received a degree in Architectural Engineering. Finding the local market limited with engineering opportunities, he teamed with some friends and decided to open an ice cream store. Somehow, although Babaeen swears, "he does not know how it happened," they began selling flowers. What set the space apart from Houston's other florists was the fact that not only did the shop sell an unusual selection of flowers it was literally filled top to bottom with thousands of breathtaking blooms!

"From the very beginning, I knew that I wanted to make floral arrangements that were different. I wanted to create centerpieces that were unconventional in terms of their look and design," said Babaeen.

In 1988, Babaeen was on his way back to the airport after a few days in to Los Angeles and spied a small, run down mechanics shop on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. The owner was literally nailing a "For Rent" sign on the front door. Babaeen's instincts told him to take a closer look. He pulled into the driveway, surveyed the property and told the owner "I'll take it." He knew in his heart that the building and location could be turned into something wonderful. EMPTY VASE was born.

For almost 20 years, EMPTY VASE has been Hollywood's favorite florist. In addition to its A-list celebrity clientele, EMPTY VASE has created the floral dˇcor for an array of high-profile industry and corporate events. Additionally, EMPTY VASE has its own in-house event planner making Babaeen's company a "one-stop-shop" for any customer orchestrating an event of any size.

In addition to selling floral arrangements and fresh flowers, Babaeen has created his own unique collection of fresh topiaries. From the Jumping Deer, which stands 8' tall, to compact adorable puppies and bunnies, these one-of-a-kind topiaries make the unique gift.

Recently, EMPTY VASE "branched" out with a stylish line of affordable home accessories. Gorgeous containers, coffee table books, glass vases, lamps, dressers, candles and select pieces of furniture offer shoppers distinctive items that add a casually elegant touch.

While being coy about his next big move, customers know that whatever Babaeen does, it will be spectacular.
