Chasing Diana

By Jack and Robin Firestone

Chasing Diana

Cleverly written as a "screenplay novel," Cha- sing Diana is historical fiction at its finest. Initially inspired by the events witnessed by authors Jack and Robin Firestone in Paris in the early hours of August 31, 1997, this compelling narrative sheds new light on that late summer evening when one of history's brightest flames was extinguished.

Using a unique mixture of truth and fantasy, Chasing Diana is a parable for our times. Vicariously told through the eyes of lead characters Rhonda and James Goodrich, Chasing Diana is the remarkable story of how a princess' death rips a closely-knit family apart ... and the healing process which ultimately unites them.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Jack and Robin Firestone unwittingly became witnesses to history when they personally saw the immediate aftermath of the fatal crash that took the lives of Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed. For over ten years, they attempted to get government and law enforcement officials to acknowledge and take action on their eyewitness account. Finally, in December 2007, they were called to give live testimony in London at the Royal Court of Justice's third and final "Coroner's Inquest into the Deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Mr. Dodi Al Fayed". After hearing the Firestones' testimony, in April 2008 the jury reversed its previous conclusion and changed its official findings now saying that the Princess and Mr. Fayed were "unlawfully killed" as a result of "gross negligence" by driver Henri Paul and the swarming band of paparazzi that pursued them.

WHY WRITE Chasing Diana?
The idea to write the screenplay came because of the authors reading an October 2004 Vanity Fair article that said Scotland Yard had reopened its investigation into the accident. The article went on to say that, the previous investigation by French law enforcement was poorly executed and inadequate. The Firestones, through their own eyewitness experience, knew this to be true.

WHY A SCREENPLAY:
According to the Firestones,"The events that took place in Paris the nights of August 31 through September 2, 1997 unfolded like a movie. So in our view, a screenplay was the perfect way to tell this story."
